Ground Rules

Image
Our  top ten ground rules that we agreed on from the beginning of the semester : 1- gather every Thursday at 11 am by the lake to keep up and update on the assignment.  2-  The meeting duration does not exceed 1 hour. 3- Areej will be the group leader, and whatever tasks she assigns we will take. 4- When there is a disagreement and we are not reaching to any conclusions, we will flip a coin to finalize our discussion. 5- All  criticism that is said must be respectful and actually is something that can be changed. For example, You should fix the grammar mistakes, I think it would be better to use another picture. But not like: Change your clothes, I don’t like your makeup 6-  The assignment will be submitted 24 hours before the deadline. 7-  Ignoring messages, and calls, and not responding will lead to us contacting the instructor. 8-  Anyone who spots a mistake shall say it in the group in a respectful manner so we can change it as soon as possi...

Homogeneous and Diverse groups

Image
Homogeneous groups consist of individuals who share similar backgrounds, traits, or characteristics, such as age, culture, education, or nationality. An example of a homogeneous group could be a team of software engineers with the same level of experience and from the same country. The main advantage of homogeneous groups is that they often have better initial communication and cohesion, as the members may share common values, language, and perspectives. However, the lack of diversity can lead to groupthink and limit creativity, as members may be less likely to challenge each other's ideas. Diverse groups, on the other hand, are composed of individuals with varying backgrounds, skills, experiences, and perspectives. For instance, a diverse team might include members of different ages, nationalities, and expertise. The key advantage of diverse groups is that they can foster innovation and problem-solving by combining unique ideas and approaches. This can lead to better decision-ma...

1- Forming: Is this the stage in which we try to decide who are our group members? who is the leader? In our group in the forming stage, Rataj and Areej had already decided on being in the same group since they know each other well, however the other team members were chosen randomly by the instructor.  2- Storming: This is where all group members become more clear about their goals. In this stage, communication, being clear, and straight forward is key; as at this stage group members may disagree about assigning roles and their finals goals. Here, conflict is prone to happen. In Our group, some group members did not agree with the other group members way of doing things, which lead to some frustration between them. For example, in GCA 1 Reem and Najlaa did not agree with Rataj being the group leader, yet Rataj thought that she would be a better leader as she liked things to go her way.  4- Norming: After being clear about each member's goals, group members agree on the roles ...

About Us

Image
Our group name is The Creatives, We choose this name because each and every one of us has a new idea every time, new thoughts, and new ways to achieve it. For instance, Areej created the website, and the rest of us created the group name and helped with the examples and pictures. Furthermore, in my case, I was not sure that I can create my own business but with my creativity, I did manage to work on this idea and develop it till I actually achieved my dream. Also, Fatma always looks at things from a different perspective than others, and sees herself doing everything in different ways that make her work unique that's why she sees herself as a creative person that benefits herself and her group. William Schutz Theory

According to William Schutz, there are three interpersonal needs for joining groups. The first interpersonal is Inclusion, he mentioned that it is express inclusion because it is necessary to give all the members attention, and we care about all the members' opinions. That will help the members to understand each other. Also, some members express inclusion and some of us are desired inclusion. The second interpersonal which is the members will get connected with each other is control. So, that means that one of the group members wants to manage the group or guide the members in the work and divide the parts equally. The last interpersonal and the most important one is the affection which is showing respect. Moreover, the group members should care about each other, show kindness and show some positive energy.
